Is The Learning Lodge right for your child?
The Learning Lodge may be a great fit if your child:
-
The benefits of personalised learning, with the confidence of learning alongside others.
We know that every child learns differently. Our small-group sessions are designed around your child's individual needs, strengths and stage of learning - never a one-size-fits-all approach.
With two qualified teachers supporting each session, children are carefully grouped according to where they are and what they need. This means children in the same group may be working on different skills or activities, with their learning tailored specifically to them.
Groups are kept intentionally small, with no more than three children per teacher. For many children, learning alongside a small number of peers feels less daunting and can help them build confidence, stay motivated and enjoy their learning.
Your child will also benefit from the reassurance of a familiar teacher every session, either Jaclyn or Fiona, so they know who to expect and can build a strong, trusting relationship over time.
Small group. Individual approach. Familiar faces. Learning that works for your child.
-
Learning beyond the desk. Not every child learns best sitting still, and that's absolutely okay.
If your child learns better when they're moving, standing, exploring or being outdoors, we can adapt our approach to suit them.
Our learning environment is designed to give children the freedom and space to learn in a way that feels natural to them. They can work at a table, relax on a beanbag, stand, move around or take their learning outside.
With nature right on our doorstep, we can use the outdoors as an extension of the classroom - whether that means walking while talking, exploring the environment or simply having a change of scenery.
We are also proudly completely screen-free, which means learning can happen anywhere. We believe children should be able to engage with their learning through conversation, movement, creativity and real-world experiences, rather than being expected to sit at a desk for long periods.
Because learning doesn't have to mean sitting still.
-
Some children think, focus and remember more effectively when they are able to move. We embrace this rather than expecting every child to learn in the same way.
Learning might involve standing, walking, using practical resources, changing position or taking our work outdoors. Our flexible approach gives your child the opportunity to move, explore and engage with their learning, helping them stay focused without feeling restricted by a traditional classroom environment.
We have plenty of space to move, as well as nature right on our doorstep, giving us lots of opportunities to make learning active and hands-on.
Because sometimes, the best way to learn is to get moving.
-
Has your child lost confidence in their learning or become worried about getting things wrong? Sometimes a little encouragement, patience and the right environment can make all the difference.
We create a calm, supportive space where children can learn at their own pace, celebrate small successes and build on what they can already do. There's no pressure to keep up with everyone else and no fear of getting things wrong - mistakes are simply part of learning.
Our aim is to help your child recognise their own progress, develop a more positive attitude towards learning and, most importantly, believe in themselves again.
-
Is your child finding a particular area of the curriculum challenging, or would they benefit from a little extra support alongside school?
We can provide targeted support around your child's individual needs, helping them develop the skills and understanding they need to feel more confident in their learning. Whether they need help with a specific subject, support to fill gaps in their knowledge or simply more time to practise and consolidate what they've learned, we can adapt our sessions accordingly.
We work at your child's pace, while keeping their current learning and curriculum in mind, so that the support they receive is relevant, purposeful and tailored to them.
The right support, at the right time, for your child.
-
Are you home educating your child and looking for additional support, fresh ideas or a little more structure?
Our sessions can complement your existing approach to home education, providing tailored teaching in a relaxed and supportive environment. Our child-centred approach means we take the time to understand your child as an individual; their interests, strengths, needs and the way they learn best.
We can focus on specific subjects or skills, support areas they find challenging, or simply give them the opportunity to learn alongside other children. There's no need to follow a rigid programme; we can work with you to create sessions that fit naturally alongside your home education journey.
Flexible, child-centred support, shaped around your child and your approach to learning.
-
Does your child need learning that is truly tailored to them?
Every child is different, and we don't believe they should have to fit into a predetermined way of learning. Our child-centred approach means we get to know your child; their strengths, interests, challenges and how they learn best, and use this to shape their sessions.
Whether your child needs more time, a different way of explaining something, additional challenge, extra encouragement or simply the freedom to learn at their own pace, we adapt our approach to meet them where they are.
There is no one-size-fits-all programme. We look at the whole child and create learning experiences that are meaningful, achievable and right for them.
Because your child is an individual and their learning should be too.
A different approach to learning
Sessions are tailored around each child's individual needs and could focus on English and maths, but learning is much more than academic progress. We can help children develop confidence and concentration, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.
For children who need a little extra support, a different approach to learning or simply a place or pace of learning, where they feel confident and successful, The Learning Lodge offers something different with a mix of indoor and outdoor learning, set within a classroom space overlooking vast countryside, that can also be used within lessons.
